Method
- Take a heavy bottom vessel and cook the oats with water just enough for oats to cook. Do not make it to thick like a paste. It must be in a running consistency, but not too watery either.
-
Once the oats is cooked include the jaggery powder to the boiling oats.
-
Furthermore, once jaggery melts and blended well with oats, add the coconut milk and simmer and cook for not more than 2 to 3 min.
-
Add a pinch of cardamom powder mix well and turn off the stove.
-
In a small pan, add half teaspoon ghee and sauté the nuts and raisins along with chopped dry coconut.
-
Add the sautéed nuts and coconut pieces to the payasam.
Enjoy the yummy healthy oats payasam.
Note:
-
Quantity of jaggery can be increased or decreased as per your taste.
-
The same recipe can be done using broken wheat or dahlia.
-
Coconut milk can be replaced with regular full fat milk.
-
Lastly, adding dry coconut pieces is a choice. But it surely gives you the crunch while eating.
-
This sweet can be consumed either hot or cold.
